I grew landscape plants for the 100-plus schools in the county while designing and installing nature areas and landscapes on school
grounds so children could actually see the native plants of South Florida. Our work was important due to rapid uncontrolled
growth. The vast majority of native ecosystems were being destroyed and the majority of landscape plants were foreign to Florida.
By the late 1980's, like most native Floridians I had enough of South Florida, so we moved to far Northern Florida. There, with
the help of my wife Jeannine, I started a wholesale native plant nursery in the small village of Lloyd in Jefferson County.
Meanwhile I worked part time as the Assistant Urban Forester for the City of Tallahassee.
After ten years in rural Northern Florida we sold the farm and moved to Dublin, NH with our two sons Stefan and Nicholas.
Knowledge
Aside from being a Certified Horticulturist and in the nursery business for 25 years, I have taught a number of landscape, ecology
and horticultural classes. I have also spoken at seminars and earned several certifications such as ISA Certified Arborist,
Certified Landscape Professional and Certified Nursery Professional.

Background
My interest in native plants was due to
